International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO): Amirul’s Journey
Today, Amirul conveyed a great news to us. For the past three days he spent his time at one of the hotel in Kedah for the IMSO final stage selection camp (for primary school). He got the 1st rank.We all know he can do it. Even though just 11 years old, he shows he is different from other 11 year old kids. He has magic! You will be surprised, the questions are from the PMR and SPM level for Physics, Biology and General Science (all in English and he reads these books on his own). After few selection camps, he (together with the 2nd & 3rd candidate) will be off to Jakarta, Indonesia next week for the international event representing the country. Congratulations Amirul!

p/s: hihihi …. Jakarta? I wanna follow too!

Cupcakes: Orange
Order for a farewell function. Orange cupcake iced with choc (hershey’s) ganache, decor with buttercream. I also put orange paste in the buttercream to give an extra feeling to the eater. Tasted so yummy! Orange and chocolate can never be wrong! (at least for me) hihihi …….

Project: Ultraman Cake
A friend asked me to make a Barney Cake (same like Jojo) but later changed to Ultraman. Well, we will always try to fulfill what the customers want. It is very challenging especially in handling the body, head and the trade mark arm cross! hihihi but finally we are very happy of the outcome. Thanks Shaky!

The Ultraman is made of fondant and painted with silver edible color.
Traveling: Singapore
I am currently in Singapore attending a meeting. Arrived at the hotel late afternoon today. The journey was so quick. I remember I just flipped through the newspaper only few pages then there was an announcement on the arrival procedure. The landing made me “mabuk“, I thought there was a crosswind hit our plane & I was sitting at the last row of A330-200. After check in and get some rest, we went out to Far East Plaza for dinner, just walking distance from the hotel. I had a Nasi Goreng Pattaya. Sedap! Maybe day after tomorrow we’ll go some other places to find the famous “Murtabak Singapore”.
Tonite I need to review some documents and reports for the meeting tomorrow. Some pictures to share:

Seconds after take-off The flight

About to land The restaurant that we had dinner last night

Delegates, altogether 3 tables. Left: Singapore, Thailand, France, Malaysia, Egypt. Right: Bangladesh, Italy, Tunisia and Pakistan. Not all parties attended the dinner. Believe they went for shopping! hehehehe….

The food: In the center is Asam Pedas Kepala Ikan (Fish Head in chilli gravy), surrounded by deep fried babysquid, chicken satay with peanut sauce, Sambal Udang (Prawn in chilli paste), Sayur Lodeh (Vegetables cook with coconut milk), Deep fried Tofu with Eggs, Beef Rendang and Fried Marinated Chicken. Too much for everyone to finish. The dessert also yummy but sorry no picture as everyone was busy finishing it.

The hotel that we stay Inside the hotel (a boutique hotel, connected to mall)

Cheesecake anyone? Murtabak Singapore at Sultan Road. Taste: biasa jer…
Angkasawan: Return of the cosmonauts
Tomorrow our first angkasawan will be touched-down on earth after spending about 10 days in ISS. I am sure most of us are so anxious to listen to his experience face-to-face. He is everybody’s hero, future generations inspiration indeed!

Happy Birthday Wan Amirul
Today is Amirul’s 11th birthday. We baked & iced some cuppies for his friends at school. The theme? Golf Cupcakes. Since I am away from home and did not bring all my deco tools, my design is also limited. I couldn’t find any ready made fondant here to make the golf ball. So what I did was making the buttercream tougher and pipe it using a round tip to make a white round shape resembles a golf ball. Also, my sister would like to bring some for her colleagues (the theme is choc ganache and orange buttercream)
The golf cupcakes comprise of green, bunker and water hazard, roses, clouds and ladybird.

Apart from the cuppies, my sister also bought a cake for us to eat and celebrate (the cuppies are jus
t enough for his classmates and also my sister’s colleague at her school, so nothing left for all of us).

Aidil Fitri 2007
I am away from home. Being at my parents in-law and my parents’ house for the past 10 days. Tomorrow I’ll be back in KL. Must be a very long journey. Last Monday we departed from South at 6pm and arrived north around 6am! It was a 12-hour driving. Of course in between we stopped at the R&R to get some rest (sleep actually) hehhehe …. So what happened in the past 10 days? Normal things that people do when celebrating Aidil Fitri, like baking, cooking, visiting relatives, hosting, etc. We do cook, eat & sleep hehheheh …
Picture will be uploaded soon.

Angkasawan: It’s a final countdown!
10/10/2007 – Final Countdown, the 1st Malaysian ANGKASAWAN will be blast-off to the ISS @ 9.21pm Malaysian time. The launch pad is at Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan. The first ANGKASAWAN has been announced on 9/10/2007 by our PM. He is Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, a Medical Officer from UKM. He will be with the first crew of Soyuz 15-S mission together with astronauts Yuri Malenchenko (Russian) and Peggy Whitson (American). The second ANGKASAWAN is Captain Dr Faiz Khaleed, a Dentist with ATM and he will join the second crew. However, the final decision on who would be on board the Soyuz – whether the first crew team or second crew team or mixed team — would be determined by the Russian mission director.
My husband and I will have the opportunity to see the launch live telecast organized by MOSTI at KL Convention Center and going to be witnessed by the PM and DPM from there. It will start with breakfast, terawih & hajat prayer and then the live telecast. The invitation:
Do watch it live on tv too! TV1, TV3 and Astro Channel 588. Get to know more about the mission at ANGKASAWAN Official Website. For those who have yet to see their faces, the following are the two lucky bachelors (not including the far right, hehehe):
